Interview: SAPP member Frauke Kraas Joins German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Trip to Vietnam and Thailand.


In January 2024, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Hubertus Heil travelled to Vietnam and Thailand. “Sharing a Planet in Peril” (SAPP) member Professor Frauke Kraas from the UoC’s Institute of Geography accompanied them as part of a delegation of around sixty people, including a business delegation and journalists. Frauke Kraas is an expert on megacity and urbanization studies, migration, ethnic minorities, socio-economic disparities, development, transition and regional studies with a regional focus on Southeast Asia, India, Iceland, Switzerland and China.

In this interview, she gives the University of Cologne outlet “expresso” an insight into what it is like to travel with the Federal President.
